Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee and a vital part of the culture. Jebena Coffee, our own line of 100% Ethiopian coffee, is named after the small pot we use during our coffee ceremonies.
The history of coffee dates back to as far as the 9th century in Kaffa, Ethiopia where tradesmen were believed to have mixed the harvested beans with ghee butter (clarified butter) as a source of energy on long journeys. Slowly this transformed into preparing coffee as a beverage by boiling the grounded beans in a Jebena, or traditional pot.
We hand-roast and produce small-batch 100% Ethiopian coffee for all coffee lovers to enjoy. Whether you want to reconnect with your Ethiopian heritage or simply come together over a good cup of coffee, Jebena Coffee is the perfect option. You can buy it here on the website or come visit us at the store!
